synopsis

Set against the Ethiopian abandoned children crisis, two orphan brothers are faced with the reality of never being adopted. Days before his 18th birthday, Abel finds himself about to age out of his orphanage and leave his younger brother Kiya behind. But when a prospective adopting couple threatens to break their relationship apart, the brothers wrestle with waiting for a dream that may never be fulfilled. Inspired by a true story.

Josh Leong is an Asian-American writer, director, and producer from who went to the NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Awarded by President Obama for his United Nations film on human rights, his films have screened at five Academy Awards-qualifying festivals. In 2018, Josh traveled to Ethiopia, befriending the real-life Abel.
